Tropic Trucker was launched in late October 2019 with the vision of protecting our most vulnerable and iconic species: The Koala. From the very beginning during the brainstorm stage of the business The Koala took centre stage. Protecting this beautiful creature is our sole mission.

In the recent Australian Bushfires 2019-2020 (which are still happening), over 10 million hectares (and counting) of bushland has been wiped out so far, including entire Koala habitats. As many as over 8000 Koalas are understood to have perished in NSW alone. Many more in other States. Kangaroo Island is believed to have lost over 25,000. To make matters worse they are also losing their main food source - the gumtree. Koalas only eat a certain type of Gumtree leaf, and most of those trees were wiped out, effectively reducing their food source to null. At the centre of this bushfire devastation is one Koala in particular who captured the hearts of all Australians, and in fact the entire world. His name was Lewis. Lewis was rescued by a passer-by with the shirt off her own back as he attempted to walk through the flames in Long Flat, Port Macquarie. Lewis, believed to be around 14 years old, was wrapped up in a blanket and given water before being rushed to a local vet hospital. Sadly Lewis died a few days later as his injuries were too extensive.

To us, Lewis has became a symbol of a much bigger problem - The plight of Australia's koalas as wild bushfires are ravaging our beautiful country and through the natural habitat of the Koala At Tropic Trucker we made it our mission (even before all this happened) to save this beautiful creature from reaching the "Critically Endangered" list. 

Every time you make a purchase on our platform goes towards financing our charity partner Friends of the Koala (www.friendsofthekoala.org). Here are just some of the things this amazing non-profit does:
Rescuing, rehabilitating and releasing koalas
Protecting and enhancing koala habitat
Educating the community about koalas and issues that affect them
Advocating on behalf of koalas
Assisting relevant research

Our goal is to support them to reach their objectives, and more! So get behind us Straya! This is a big issue that needs our love and determination to succeed. Lets save our Iconic Koala for all future generation to enjoy the way we have. Its the least we can do :)
